What's the importance of professional accreditation?

As a fully accredited online school from the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, you can rest assured this curriculum was meticulously reviewed by the board of directors to meet the stringent criteria for approval. Many professional bodies have an accreditation association i.e American Medical Association and American Nurses Association to name a few.
Upon completion of HIHEC's course, you will gain a professional certification which is the first step to becoming a AADP Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. 
Once these two steps are complete, you may also have an approved online course with the AADP stamp of approval and school listing.

What is Trichology?

Dry, itchy, flaky scalp? Hair loss, thinning or patches of balding? Brittle hair? Unlock the mysteries of having a healthy scalp and thriving hair. The power of trichology unlocks a deeper understanding into common hair and scalp disorders along with treatment modalities. A few common diagnoses are androgenetic alopecia, scalp psoriasis and central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia. Trichologists understand that healthy hair isn’t just about shampoos and DIY treatments; it’s a reflection of the individuals inner health.

What is a Trichologist qualified to do?

Trichologists work collaboratively with dermatologists, endocrinologists, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care. While these health professionals conduct diagnostic testing and prescribe needed medications, trichologists formulate additional holistic plans of care. Some trichologist may also provide hair services suitable for the stage of hair loss one may be in; i.e wig installs, scalp micro pigmentation, low manipulation hairstyling, etc.

What are the pre-requisites for the trichology course? 

HIHEC believes in a standard of care for trichologist who care for, advise and treat customers seeking professional care. We develops professionals in the field of Trichology, who want to network with like-minded professionals; therefore, a professional license in cosmetology, barbery, natural hair or in the medical field is required. At HIHEC, we continue education and build on your current skillset to forge a path for your business expansion.

What career opportunities are there for Trichologists?

Trichology is continued education and dependent on the individuals main career industry, the opportunities are limitless. Dermatologists study hair, nails and skin and a dermatotrichologist is specialized in hair and scalp disorders. Cosmetologists study complete professional hair care and coupled with a certification in Trichology, they are qualified to identify common hair and scalp disorders and provide client education, referrals, homeopathic remedies and drugless practices to combat these issues. Their opportunities to expand their business is limitless, from consults, to services, to product development.

How long is the certification course?

Each course has a timeframe of 4-week access or 12-week access for the student to complete all work. Modules are released either every 5-days or every 7-days depending on the course. After completion, within the access timeframe, the student will be awarded their certification. 

When are courses offered?

Courses are offered all year long. There are 3 live Q&A sessions per academic year; fall, winter and spring. There's also an option to do self-paced courses at your convenience. 

Do Trichologists need more education after certification?

After completing this foundational course to trichology, students will be equipped with the knowledge needed to understand not only hair and scalp disorders but common health disorders that contribute to the hair/scalp issues. Additionally, the student will know of the treatment modalities that can be implemented within their scope of practice. 

As a professional in your field, staying updated with the latest research, treatments, and technologies in trichology through continuous professional development would most benefit you and your clients. 

Is there a hands-on portion to this course?

This is 100% an online adult education experience. There are no hands-on locations and the student will have the confidence and knowledge to begin introductory trichology services upon completion.
